School Council

The School Council is responsible for the governance of the school. It is made up of seven parents, three teachers, a community member and the Principal who is the Executive Officer. Every year, elections are held to fill the vacancies created by the end of the two-year term of office of cycle. Each year about half of the members retire at the completion of their two-year term. They may re-nominate for another term of office.

Council meets on the third Wednesday of the month in the staffroom. It is an open meeting with parents invited to attend as visitors. Visitors, of course, have no voting rights. Meetings commence at 7:45 pm and follow a strict agenda that is issued to members well in advance of the meeting. Important correspondence is discussed and the school’s Business Manager and Treasurer present the financial reports.

The Annual General Meeting and/or Reporting Meeting are held in March to elect office bearers, co-opt a community member, to form sub-committees and to present the Annual Report.
